Beach Guide: Exploring Tortola Villa Rentals

Tortola is the largest of the British Virgin Islands and has a beautiful array of beaches; the most enticing ones are listed below. Found along the North Shore of Tortola, each of these spots offer something unique for beachgoers.

We suggest renting 4 wheel-drive vehicles to all guests of Tortola villa rentals since the roads leading to some of these beaches can be very difficult to maneuver.

Smuggler’s Cove (above)

One of our favorite beaches of all time! A small, irresistible and remote beach, Smuggler’s Cove offers visitors a great spot to kick-back and unwind.

What you can expect: Great snorkeling, pristine sand, calm waters that favor swimming, no restaurants.

Cane Garden Bay (above)

As the island's most popular beach, there is an abundance of beach-activities to choose from and popular dining spots line the shore. This beach is quite busy and does draw a crowd, so if you’re looking for something more private we suggest Brewer’s Bay.

What you can expect: Excellent swimming, water sports, beach chair rentals, several restaurants and beach bars.

This easily accessible mile-long beach offers fun in the surf at its West End in addition to water sports rentals.

Apple Bay (above)

Home of Bomba’s Shack, famous for its full moon parties and rum punch, Apple Bay is a surf heaven just over the hill from Long Bay!

What you can expect: Surfers from all over the world, 6ft waves during the winter months, charming seaside village with great dining.

Brewers Bay (above)

An expansive and quiet beach with excellent snorkeling, 4 wheel drive recommended if you plan on arriving here by car. The water offers some of the best snorkeling on the island because of its many reefs.

What you can expect: Great snorkeling and swimming, a single beach bar/restaurant – Nicole's.

Josiah's Bay (above)

Surfer’s paradise! Consistent swells hit this bay from the North, producing a great beach break. Josiah’s has been known to have a strong undertow – take caution when swimming here.

What you can expect: Local surfers, strong currents, great atmosphere, wide beach and soft sand ideal for sun tanning.

If you have visited and of these particular beaches or Tortola villa rentals, we'd love to hear about it!
