From Oahu Vacation Rentals – To Our Very Own Home
Don’t get me wrong, I love returning to the mainland to visit family, but there really is nothing comparable to stepping off the plane and smelling the sweet hibiscus and gardenia infused air of Oahu!
My love affair with “The Gathering Place” began 7 years ago when my husband and I spent our honeymoon in heaven, splitting our 10 romantic days at two separate Oahu vacation rentals. We decided on looking into villas in Hawaii as options for the ultimate newly-wed getaway; one of the best decisions we have ever made! Two years after our honeymoon stay, we made the decision to live the Hawaiian dream and moved into our own beachfront villa! Waking up to the sound of waves lapping onto shore, enjoying views of the sunrise while sipping freshly roasted Kona coffee on the lanai, and walks along the white sand beaches of Kailua never seem to get old.
Now, with two little keiki (Hawaiian for children) running around, we’ve fallen even more in love with Oahu and everything it has to offer for the entire family. We moved to a fabulous community just outside Honolulu, called Kailua. It is a small town with some of the best shops, restaurants and beaches on Oahu. One of our favorite things to do as a family is also one of the simplest pleasures Hawaii has to offer; a picnic on the beach. Our favorite beach, Kailua, is right in our own backyard. The small shore break and steady trade winds along this side of the island make it both fun and safe for body-boarding, bodysurfing, kite-surfing (for Dad) and windsurfing.

It’s a little overcast out today so we probably won’t head to the beach but it’s just as well – I have plenty of unpacking to do and jetlag to overcome! Actually, it’s the perfect day to take the girls into Kailua to visit the Farmer’s Market and grab a bite at Cinnamon’s….how nice it is to be back! The hubby and I will be exploring spas and gourmet dining this weekend for a belated Valentine’s Day celebration so be sure to check out our reviews soon! Aloha!
